Liturgy of the Hours

The Community of Our Lady of Spring Bank Cistercian Abbey celebrates the Liturgy of the Hours in Latin with some English, and Gregorian Chant. We follow the directives given in the 6th century by St. Benedict in his Rule for monks. Seven times a day we gather together to praise God through Psalms, Hymns, Sacred Scripture, and Homilies from the Great Fathers of the Church.

We pray the complete book of Psalms each week, spending over 4 hours daily, chanting the praises of the Trinity.

Mass

The Community of Our Lady of Spring Bank Cistercian Abbey celebrates Mass in Latin with some English, and Gregorian Chant according to the New Rite (Novus Ordo) of Pope Paul VI, with variations proper to the Cistercian Rite.

Visitors

Visitors to the Abbey are welcome to attend all liturgies. Latin texts, with English translations, are available for the Liturgy of the Hours and at Mass.
